Having lunch with a good friend and happy customer I realized that some of
my early pieces may need to make a come back.

Items like this Roger Francis Clarke original "drop of gold" 18K bracelet
that still continues to satisfy this customer years later. There was also a

Since I started the Digital Magazine 1 two one 2 my blog has really
suffered. I guess that might be because the magazine is like a giant
blog I have been taking photos, interviewing people, coordinating
and organizing. Actually it is a lot more work thanany blog ! Well
that is my excuse for not posting anything in a long time.

Good news is that there are new photographers and writers coming
in on the mag, so it will become even more powerful !

実は”ワン・ツー”という言葉には幅広い音域が含まれていて、

再現されているか確かめることができる、魔法の言葉。

1 two one 2 デジタルマガジンも同様に、ファッション、アート、ボディケアから

presenting content including Fashion, Music, Art, Food, etc.,1 two one 2 various
lifestyle tuning topics from around the world.

The magazine web edition will expand in depth and content as time progresses
1 two one 2 magazine that will release a new issue on the 5th of each month,
with next release scheduled for May 5th. Content updates will be monthly,
weekly, and daily, depending on the topic.

Also look out for new topics will be added as well.

For the first 6 months the content will basically be in the Japanese Language,
however we plan to have English and other language translations in the near future.

First Blossom of the year

Spent some time in the park today enjoying some slow time. It's almost
cherry blossom season and there were many cherry trees. The trees all
seemed ready to bloom but there was only one that had blossomed early.

Although many have predicted that the iPhone would not be
a hit in Japan,recently there has been a noticeable growth in the
amount of iPhone users in Tokyo. iPress a free iPhone newspaper
for IPhone users in Japan has opened an iPress Cafe in Shibuya
At the iPress Cafe you can try out new apps check out iPhone
goods and of cousre there is free wifi. The opening event had a very
groggy me in Shibuya early on a Sunday morning.
So I had to say a few words about them. Looking forward to see how
they will develop.

Birthday Week (October 1st to October 7th)

Christmas is a nice time of the year but so is
Birthday Week.
yes, WEEK, (7 days of private and public celebration).
In these busy times withbusy and unconventional
schedules, it really makes sense and allows you to be able
to catch up to family and friends.

This year started on Sept. 30th with 4 straight days of
dinners and drinking. Areas so far included Kagurazaka,
Yutenji, Ebisu, and often two or more venues in one area.
I didn't take many pics at the locations I went to,
so I guess some of the festivities will have to remain private.

Luckily, there are pictures of the low key,
satisfying meal at Yutenji-Diner.
Nice full-on course that featured this
shio motsu nabe, among other delicacies.

(everything seems to taste good here)
It was a very cozy and private time.

Officially the actual birthdate is October 1st and the
celebration starts on the 1st and ends on the 7th.
This year started out on Sept. 30th with 4 straight
days of eating and drinking. I am not complaining but
I need to rest (and also take time to post to the blog)

(and even got a special gift from my assistant Junko)

Birthday week is not only dinners gifts and drinking,
but also time to reflect and be thankful to be enjoying life.
If you don't make an effort to be in control of your time, you will never be...
Birthday week, nice as it always is,
and I still have a few more days to go...

the Google street view? I have never seen it either,
or maybe I have... This odd car with to many camera like
contraptions rolled thru my neighborhood today. This
must be the street view car !

Old School Japanese Drink

There are a couple of drinks making a comeback in popularity,

one is the highball the other is "Hoppy".

Now "Hoppy" is a beer that is usually mixed

with sho-chu and served cold (see the pic below)

I had been curious about it for a while but

one night out with my shakuhachi teacher

(another story) who is old school,

I got a chance to enjoy two servings of "Hoppy" while

dining on yakitori, .

Impressions:

goes down easy and does have a definite kick,

BUT

it doesn't leave you with a headache or feeling

bad the next day.

(I did drink in moderation though)

H&M Shibuya Opening

Got invited to the Opening of H&M's new shop in Shibuya,
I didn't expect much but was happily surprized by the event
Lots of clothes (the reception was in the shop)
Lots of beautiful women (no joke)
lots of champagne and and beer
(I drank beer too much champagne can be dangerous)
and to top it off, live preformance by the Black Eyed Peas !!

This summer 2009 must have been my shortest
summer to ever. It felt like two weeks, really !
My blog has also suffered from "no update syndrome".
Forgive me, I have been busy.

Now I am in Ebisu, having a beer, taking the time to
reflect on the summer, and project on this upcoming
fall/ winter.

I have Finally figured out a nice way to send blog post by iPhone
so updates should be a little bit more frequent from now on.

Dreams coming true

I rode this very sexy T-Rex yesterday at the
Tokyo Special Import Car Show 2009. Now I have
always wanted one of these but, I had no idea that I
would be riding in one so soon.

"You know what to do, right..."
The ride was Fantastic! !!

The T-rex getting some photo love at the show.
So my dream of riding and owning a T-Rex has come true,...
half way.
The ride is done, now about owning...,
"hmm, let me see what color do I want..."

Visiting Friends in Kugenuma

Now I have been to Kugenuma before but...

As I wait the train to take me to see my friends in Kugenuma,
which is outside of Tokyo and near the beach. I anticipated a
quiet cozy maybe we go for a stroll on the beach later kinda day.

I knew I would arrive just in time for lunch but I didn't
expect the Aperitif "Pastis" and the wonderful time that I would have.

(Pastis and grilled bell peppers in olive oil)

My friends Alana from Trindad and Michel her husband from
France (Nice) are well suited to live near the sea. They run a
French language school and French homestyle cooking class
Soleil Provence, from thier comfortable renovated home/workspace.
"Alana" also teaches at Keio University.
Both of them are exceptional cooks and the evening was
filled with laughter and good vibes

(Strawberries in Wine to top off the meal)

The evening wound down with a highly competitive but
friendly game of Petanque. My first time playing this
game and it was good fun (Trinidad vs the World!!)
There is an already scheduled rematch.... I haven't won yet.

The Party was a Success and we all did RESONATE
quite nicely. Bar Point_RESONATE was the party title,
and also the intention.
Held on Mar.6th, 2009 at "Point Gallery" in Ebisu it
was the first in a "bar series" the Gallery intends to
produce.
The first guest "Bar Master" was
Roger Francis Clarke (the man and the brand) and
"RESONATE" was also the first in the of the
"RESONATE" events series.

There was "wood bass" offering much vibe,
special drinks including exotic champagnes
Shisha (Egyptian water pipes) by "Shisha Tokyo",
Light snacks (cheese raisins pita chips etc)
lounge music by 1twoone2, and an mobile phone
exhibition Roger's collection of mobile phones from
the first one owned up to the current one being
used now.

Coffee and chat (Feb.18th cont.)

Dropped into a Ginza cafe for a little coffee
and chat with a very sweet lady.

her reccomendation was Patisserie Qu il fait bon
which specializes in fruit tarts. I had ordered the
"black bean chocolate something"
I forgot the name, don't order that, the blueberry tart
was much tastier. By the way I heard that the
chocolate cake is not the way to go either.
Fruit Tarts are the way to go, If you go there
have a fruit tart, that's right your heard it here
fruit tart.

Oxygen !! (Feb.18th continued)

This day I had been short on sleep and a little
sluggish, fortunately I was scheduled to
visit Sigma Pal a distributor of the
“Oasis O2” oxygen capsule and various
other health enhancing products. When the
staff offered me coffee or tea, I asked for
water　and I was served oxygenated water
from this machine.
(I guess the pink button is for
lukewarm water...? water for girls...?)

Good choice!
Being thirsty at the time, the oxygenated water
was right on time.

Then they hooked me up to the “AirEnergy”
breathing apparatus, which helps to oxygenate your body
from the inside, changing bad oxygen into fresh good oxygen.
they added a touch of grapefruit essential oil which made the
experience even more pleasant with
a bit of aromatherapy.

Sigma-Pal president gave me a brief explanation of what
was happening and on how the machine worked.
The man who created this machine took a hint from
nature and how plants change (carbon dioxide) C02 to
oxygen O2 (photosynthesis)

The “AIRENERGY” machine busy making the oxygen
that I was breathing through the tube in my nose

While listening to the explantation and breathing the air
from the tube, I was already starting to feel refreshed!

Now it is time for the capsule!!

Hmmm, this is going to be interesting

I felt like an astronaut going off into space, the capsule
was pressurized and I took a little nap.

When I came out of the capsule I felt lighter, springy
and recharged but, I actually felt the results stronger
the next day, I woke up earlier than normal with no alarm
clock, had more energy than usual and my face seemed to
have been thoroughly rejuvenated.

STEAK ! Feb. 18th

With all my healthy eating habits it's been a while since
I had a Steak, not Yakiniku, not Hamburger, not just meat, but a STEAK!
Today's Lunch was in Ginza where I dined at well known (in Ginza)
"Gyu An"restaurant which specializes in beef.

topped with garlic butter this STEAK was the main part of
my lunch (there was also rice and soup,etc.)

I am not a smoker...

But,
Today I went to the "shisha cafe" in Shimokitazawa and
enjoyed a Shisha (Egyptian water pipe). I am told that
you can enjoy the flavor of the smoke without inhaling it.

I had good timing and met the very informative shop staff
Mr. Tomofumi Mizuno who was actually the owner (pictured with me).
He set me up with a apple flavored tobacco
and I was blowing smoke in no time

Getting my smoke on. there was no other customers there
at the time, so it felt like my private smoking room.
NICE.

with every puff I became more and more relaxed and mellow.

It was truly a relaxing experience.

Now a Registered Trademark !!

Yesterday's busy day wound down in the evening to coffee in
Nakameguro with a friend Mr. Nojiri. I remembered that although
I had today's mail in my bag, I had not opened it yet. Opening the
mail I was surprised to see it was my Trademark Certificate!
It had been a long and trying wait (I made a few mistakes)
... but it is OFFICIAL !!

Fresh roasted coffee

Went to "Cafe Facon" in Nakameguro with my friend "Mr. Nojiri"
the other day. As we entered we were greeted by this

roasting machine and that wonderful fresh roasted fragrance.
We hadn't sat down yet but already I knew I would be back again.

One of my favorite male actors is Mr. Denzel Washington
Why...?
cause that boy (respectfully) can ACT !
but he is also to be respected as
a human being,

as an African American.
I saw one of his latest works "The Great Debaters"
directed by Mr. Washington who also
has a supporting role in the film. The Film was
BRILLIANT!
Content and presentation are Grade A.

A few days after watching this film I saw the
Obama / MCcain debate on you tube.
and I wondered what class a 5th graders
did they get to write the material...?

Where is the debate...?
Where is the intelligence,
Where's the beef ?

Salt Leaf

Now I thought I knew my veggies but....
I didn't know this one, Salt Leaf.
It was nonchalantly mixed with the greens in a salad
that the guys from "Media Surf" presented at a lunch
meeting. Being a bit hungry I didn't even notice it, until
someone attending the lunch who was visiting from Sweden
curiously said what is this... ?

Salt Leaf looks like it has been dipped in syrup and then
generously sprinkled with salt. You can taste the salt
when eating it but it is mild and not salty just right actually!
Apparently this plant extracts the slat from the soil that it
is growing in! I don't know much about this plant but it tastes
GREAT in salads. Kunitachi Farm is producing it in Japan
(sorry the link info is only in Japanese)

yes! it is real and can be used as legal tender (as money)
... and I thought the biggest bill was a 100...?

You probably didn't know that is also a 1000 Dollar Bill
and a 5000 Dollar Bill. Notes with these "high denominations"
500, 1000, etc., are not being printed and are not in circulation.
These large notes are worth more than their face value and
are highly prized by collectors.

But wait.... that's not all!...
Just like Japan there is a bill with 10,000 written on it!!
(ichi man not yen).
But,... it doesn't stop there....

Would you believe 100,000DOLLAR BILL !!
This is actually a gold certificate and it is intended only for
use in Fiscal Channels. The few undestroyed certificates remaining
today can only be seen in Mueseums

WOW ! it would be real cool just to have these a few

Birthday Week (October 1st to October 7th)

Many of you probably have come to realize like me that a lot of
the modern day social institutions/traditions/customs are badly
in need of an update. Marriage, birthdays, etc. seem to not work
as well as they could work.

I have adapted the birthday week tradition (I made it myself) to
fit my my 2008 life. With our busy schedules and different time
zones varying professions etc., it is easy to miss someones
birthday that you really planned not to miss. Sometimes you
remember two days before and then two days later (after the fact).
Now your too late and end up no making that call or do that
something special. BUT if you have a week...
now it is easier to schedule time and if your a little late your still,
on time! Wonderful!!
I have been doing birthday week for quite a few years now and I
recommend it to everyone.

The first thing I do for birthday week is touch base with my Mom
and try to do something special for her or with her. It can be as
simple as a phone call but make sure it is not rushed and that is
is quality time (or as close to it as you can get).
You see there would be no birthday with out Mom since she is
the one who birth-ed you.

After Mom is taken care of I do a bit of reminencing and actual
try to catch up with some old friends just to say hello.
Then It is enjoy me time, take some time out to just enjoy being me.
Sound egocentric?, it feels damn good!
I always end up having a great week with my updated version
of the Birthday tradition.

H Tokyo Shop Opening Reception
September 18th, 2008

A new shop in Mishuku Tokyo that specializes in handkerchiefs.
"H Tokyo"

The shop was cozy, simple, but stylish and stocked with a
wide selection of fabrics and patterns .

They are capable of adding your original monogram
right there at the shop while you wait, for a small fee.

I am looking forward to creating my original handkerchief
in the near future.
I will post it when it is completed.

Rocksmith Brand Exhibition in Aoyama
September 17th, 2008

Hadn't seen my boys over at "Rocksmith" in a while so I went to
check out their new collection. Well known Hip Hop D.J.s Masterkey,
Yukijurishi, and O-ken were holding it down at Rocksmith.

(Me and D.J. Masterkey), We have known each other
for a long time but have never taken a picture
together. (The guy taking the picture had me a bit confused...)

T&T Carnival Photos & Pan performance

Went to the opening Reception of
Makoto Kubota Photo Exhibition "Trinidad and Tobago Carnival"
at Promo Arte Project Gallery in Aoyama (Aug.28th 2008).
Steel Pan performance by "Manish" and the small section
of the Tokyo Sonics. I must say "Great photographs" of
Carnival revelers capturing the art, culture as well as some
of the energy of Trinidad and Tobago Carnival.
The exhibition as well as the photo shoot in Trinidad
was produced by Ms. Hideyo Morimoto.

Miracle Change

I just did a styling job on Nationwide TV
in Japan on July 5th 2008.
The show is called "Niji Iro Jean"
and the section I appeared in is
"Niji Iro Miracle Change".
It was hard work but a lot of fun.

40CARAT&525 and DIGNITY event

The collaboration event with 40CARAT&525
(Takeo Kikuchi's brand) was a success! Many people press
and some TV stars. The concept for the collaboration
item was, Mr Takeo Kikuchi seen through the filter of
Roger and DIGNITY. The product I made was a bracelet,
which was inspired by Mr. Takeo Kikuchi's personal
eyeglasses (pictured here). The links of the bracelet
are small eyeglasses modeled
after Mr. Kikuchi's own eyeglasses.

40ct 525 & DIGNITY event

TAKEO KIKUCHI brand "40ct 525" and Roger Francis Clarke
brand "DIGNITY" will collaborate at an event to comemorate
the 40ct 525 brand 3rd anniversary and the birthday (May 25th) of

We just had a Holiday here in Japan called
"Golden Week".
Many people get about a week of from work.
I spent my holiday time outside of Tokyo in a
place called Niigata.
No crowds, fresh air, clean water,
fresh vegetables, and check out my office!,
"beautiful nature panorama". I did a little
bit of design work there in the morning and
it was really nice.
I got to make and office like this
in a warm tropical climate.

One of my best friends in Tokyo
who opened a bar restaurant in Mishiku,
has just celebrated their five year anniversary
(March 9th 2008)
The place is called Kong Tong and the doors
have been opened for five years so far. Many
of you who have started businesses know that
it is not and easy thing and making it past the
two year mark is a real test of strength and
dedication. So to my dear friend Mr. Fukuda
(not the prime minister...)
I say RESPECT! and
CONGRATULATIONS!!

By the way this photo was taken at the
5th Anniversary party and Mr. Fukuda
(pictured to my right) had a undergone such a
big image change even I did notrecognize him!

Working too hard...?

This little guy is working hard to keep the customers cool.
Starting this blog has made me realize, that I like to eat!
So here is another post about good food. this nice little
place is located in Sangenjaya. I don't remember the name
but if you are intersted I will get the info and post it.
Absolutely the best Thai food I have ever had! Even better
than the Thai food I ate in Thailand! The prices were quite reasonable
and the lunch set was about 1300yen and will fill you up.
The simple and comfortable decor made you feel as though
you were in Thailand and not Tokyo.
Laid back and comfortable,
Nice Escape, Nice Food.

A sweet girl took me to a place called "Mother Goose"

in Kichijoji to have lunch. I didn't expect much,
the place was small, somewhat full and had a
(as you might guess) Mother Goose theme.
She said the most delicious item on the menu was the
"Seafood Mozzarella Spaghetti".
So that is what I ordered...

BAM! the plates came and pleasantly surprised me,
I inserted my fork, the taste was as you imagine...
yes, even more delicious than the pictures
I must return here again soon!

Box Factory

One of the brands I am producing (D I G N I T Y) has special
hand made wood packaging, made in Saitama. I went to visit
the factory to talk to the boss and he gave me the grand tour.
I am looking forward to making boxes for some of my other
projects with this factory

Cold Spring Wind

Today's nice sunny weather changed suddenly, became
cloudy and so windy that you could actually see the dirt
flying around, (the sky was brown). I was told later that
this wind is called "Haru Ichiban" (the first of spring).
After this wind blows it officially becomes spring.

Nambu Tetsubin

Nambu Tetsubin

As some of you already know,..
some Japanese spirits (sake) are mixed with hot water,
which is especially nice in the winter.
This way of drinking is called "oyu-wari".
"Oyu" meaning hot water and "wari" meaning
blend. so the drink is blended or "cut" with hot water.
Vive la vie, a place that I hadn't been to in a while but visited
last week had a stylish and actually healthy way to
heat the water. Not your average kettle the
"Nambu-Testubin" is made of iron.
"Nambu" refers to the southern region
"Tetsu" means iron and "Bin" is a container to hold liquid.
Some of the iron is naturally released in the water
and enters the body when the drink is consumed.
Iron being good for your body makes the
Nambu Tetsubin somewhat healthy

The NambuTetsubin is constantly being heated (which adds
humidity to the dry winter air) but the water is never boiled.
Not boiling the water allows it to retain oxygen which makes
beverages (oyu-wari, tea. etc.) taste better.

Went to the Fur show of a very good friend
who makes fur products. She had some very
gorgeous items on the racks which is no surprise.
Then some magic happened when she asked me
to try on one of the coats. Until then I had never
really pictured myself wearing fur but, to my surprise,
it felt nice!
Already I could see myself coordinated and
accented with her fur products.
You are probably thinking "fur?..."

And maybe you have a very 70's image of fur.
However I will be doing it very 2008,-09,-10,
and I will have fun!

By the way,
for all of youw ho think it is ecologically
incorrect to wear fur. My friend enlightend me
to the new facts.

Forests are not being over hunted.
Most of the animals used are farmed for the market.
Animals on the brink of extinction are not used.
Fur goes back to the earth, like all things organic.
Unlike made made substitues.

CHICKEN SOUP
I had prepared the soup stock and all the ingredients on
December 31st.
So when I woke up on January 1st. (the first day of 2008)
all I had to do
was basically put them together and and EAT.
Packed with fresh vegetables and chicken the soup I made
was delicious and truly satisfying. While enjoying this
meal I could imagine that all the work I did last year
was so that I could enjoy the result this year.
Something like my Chicken Soup!
I am Really looking forward to it!

It's not really the top of the world but, it is higher than Tokyo Tower.

Today I had a photo shoot in Roppongi, and we stopped
in the Mado lounge for lunch.

Although I didn't play chess,
I did eat. I had the "salad lunch set"

and
this delicious cup of tea

the meal was small, the view fantastic and the service
was low rank izakaya
but
I will be back for a relaxing game of chess, any challengers?

I was fortunate to attend the pre release of the men's jewelry brand
D I G N I T Y.
Just as the "D I G N I T Y" name states, the brand will produce
items that hopes will instill a feeling of dignity in young men.

The atmosphere was regal and airy which made it enjoyable for the attendees to freely view samples of some of the yet to be released products

Flower holders were amongst the few items that were shown at the event. Really looking forward to seeing the guys wearing these in the upcoming spring. Some of the products from the ladies Jewelry brand "she" can be seen alongside the flower holders in this picture.

"D I G N I T Y" proves to be one of those brands to look out for next spring 2008.

Ruby

OK another post to the drink category.
Folks in Japan do a lot of drinking in general
but as we head into to Holiday season there is a steep
increase in occasions to drink. well if your gonna drink,
I say enjoy the experience.
It's Halloween and I am at Ruby.

The sign is not the most obvious of signs but
that can be a good thing.

A couple of friends and I dropped into ruby after
bouncing around a few receptions and openings.
(it is that season right now)
While receptions normally have free drinks and sometimes
free food, the menu is not always good tasting.
However the wine and fare at
Ruby was very good tasting!

Prosciutto anyone?
(salt-cured meat usually sliced paper thin off the leg of a hog)

This wine was quite agreeable with my palate.
sophisticated, deep, and involving.
We had great conversation.

A selection of cheeses and dry fruits.
My friend who works here is an exceptional sommelier
she not only know her wines but,
also knows how to please the customers.

With the various delicious culinary compliments
the wine just kept flowing

OK the place up there on the second floor, got it.
I will be back again,

Bar Robe

New Bar in Nakameguro

I went to a Bar Opening in Nakameguro on Oct. 15th. As I
got to the door, I came upon this gold handled door between
stone columns. Perhaps I can expect an interior that has
been given some thought,...classic cool?

My expectations were met with a nice dimly lit relaxing but special
atmosphere there were a few rooms apart from the main room, and
I was in one of those rooms. Light fixtures and large mirrors added
a nice touch.

The vibes were cool for really chilling out to enjoy some nice
drinks and deep conversation with friends. The champagne was
cool but, the wine that I drank was delicious.

Tsukemen

Noodles in Shibuya.
This shop is almost always crowded. I wonder why?
Lets check it out.

It looks like a Ramen (noodle) shop at first glance.
But this place is a little different.

Many of you know about the noodles in soup called
Ramen but, there is another noodle dish called "Tsukemen"
(rough pronounciation = skemen), which is noodles
outside of the soup that you dip into the soup and
eat a little at a time.

You can have the extra noodles and a choice of spicy and
non spicy soup. I know why this place is always crowed, I had
the spicy soup and it was really good.

Foto Cafe in Shibuya
I thought this was going to be just a cafe with
a lot of photographs. Well..., not exactly.
there were many photos, but you can also order prints from
you digital data, order coffee, tea, and cakes right at your table.

No one comes to take your order.
You order everything using the monitor at your table.

Oooh,-Aaah! High Tech.
I ordered a Perrier and had a quick chat with a friend.

Definitely planning to come back and order prints
even if it's just for fun.

By the way...
you can pay for all of your goods and services
with virtual money (Suica, Pasmo etc.).
Many people in Tokyo use a "Suica" card to ride the trains.
This is a card that you charge with a sect amount of money
and use it until the balance runs out then recharge it.
Thats right just place your card on top of this special
place on top of your table and your all set.

Yeah, the same card you use to ride the trains!

a visit to a tailor

Today I went to visit one of
Tokyo's very respected and
popular tailors, CAID.
Mr Hasei was busy making
patterns but greeted me
with a warm smile.

Before we do anything I asked the CAID tailors to take a photo
with me. Mr. Yamamoto the proprieter (seated), and his partner
Mr. Hasei to my left are the CAID tailors.

Besides quality fabrics, I found many other gems at their office.
The first was this "real old school turntable" with built in tube
amplifier. Not only does it look cool but it sounded fantastic.
Mr. Yamamoto played an "old school" Doris Day album and the
vibes were really relaxing and soothing. I don't think this
turntable would do Hip-Hop and justice, but for Jazz and old
School like Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole, this turntable does magic.

The next gem I found was in this 1960's GQ magazine while flipping
the pages. I came upon the word "TRINIDAD" which is important to
me because that is where I was born. It was an editorial page about
caribbean featuring this two piece cotton "beach set". This made me
remember that there was a time when there was more to beach
fashion than swimwear.

I was browsing throught the pages of GQ when I heard a familiar sound
a sound that I had not heard in ages. with a confused look I turned
around to find to my surprise... a typewriter!! WHAAAT! ...there is
something warm and appealing about a typewriter, maybe it is it's
analogness.

Looking forward to my next visit to the office of CAID Tailors.

Birthday week begins...

Birthday Eve

This year Birthday Week started on
the eve of October 1st. (instead of
the 1st.)with a surprise dinner treat
of a "Yakiniku" dinner (grilled meat
that you cook yourself at your
table). The specialty of the
restaurant was Horumon which is
a kind of "chitlins" Japanese style.
The meal was quite delicious. And
of course a surprise dinner is
always a good thing especially for
guys! Yeah, let's eat!

One of the salads was made up of shredded cabbage
to which a spicy dressing was added. By the way
the cabbage is all you can eat.

Birthday Day October 1st.
I got an iPod shuffle, the cool red one
with proceeds to charity. Shouldn't they all have proceeds
to charity? I was happy to get this, now I can walk around
with my own theme music (heh-heh)

Later that evening...
I went to an event in Daikanyama. The guest was Bill Granger
a restauranteur from Australia. He cooked up some delicious
morsels while giving a brief talk. Mr. Kamiya and I took a
quick photo between mouthfuls.

One more time!
another surprise dinner of... ? Yes Yakiniku. I gratefully
enjoyed another night of delicious grilled meats this time at
a more downtown like location.

Thai Massage

I Got my massage and facial today. Thai massage, my first time.
Do you want soft medium or hard sir? Ummhh..., I ‘ll take medium please.
Medium was a good choice,
my massage was relaxing and and felt great. Why didn’t I do this
earlier! Great herbal scents, sound of flowing water, and the
beautiful gold dome on the ceiling. I think I will stay at this Hotel again.

Not Horseback riding...

When riding on the back of an Elephant in the rain, the neck is warm.

everyone except the guides had that “oh! this is no big thing, I am not
fazed... just really scared, (but I am doing my best to hide it), look
in their eyes”

The guide asked me if I wanted to “get behind the wheel” and I was
like, Naaw, that’s cool man you are doing a great job plus, I don’t
have my elephant drivers license on me today.

10+ feet high on board the massive majestic animal...
I have never been this close before in my life. The view was new,
close to the treetops, wet leaves, rubber trees, big spiders in big webs,
step by step gently swaying. Deep in the jungle under gentle rain we
stopped near a small river. The driver dismounted and ran up ahead
as if to check the course. During this time the elephant did not move
and inch, only flapped its ears and waited patiently. The driver
returned and told me to sit on the elephants head. For some strange
reason.., I did it!

Giddy-Up, Giddy-Up, Giddy-Up, Rawhide!!... oh! wait..., that's a
different film.
Well, Yes! now I can say I have ridden an elephant in the jungle.
35 year old female Asian Elephant named... if I could only
remember the name?

That was real cool.

Thailand

THAILAND

A wedding , a few meetings, and a need for a change of scenery have
brought me to Thailand. The Hotel that I am staying at has a lot of
flowing water, Koi and other swimming fish, many plants and trees,
and many beautiful flower arrangements that get changed daily.
All of this makes for a very relaxing atmosphere.

Sou in Ginza

September 1, 2007
My friend opened a new restaurant in Ginza, on the 12th floor of
the new MARRONNIER GATE Building. The name of the place
is "Sou" and location is on the top floor so the view is really
nice. The food is Japanese Kyoto style and they have a cooking
staff from Kyoto. Promises to be one of my future hangouts in
Ginza.

Natural healthy vegetables and grains are part of the restaurant concept.

This sink was really cool and simple the overflow is channeled by a hole in the stone base. A kind of traditional sink with a modern twist (under the counter of course)

Genius Bar... ?

If you have a drink here, do you get any smarter...?

My Macbook Pro battery stopped charging two days ago, so today
I find myself at the Apple Store in Shibuya. I am at the counter of
what they call the "Genius Bar".
Hmm... does that make me a genius?... , sitting at their bar.

Anyway the staff was friendly and the service was top self. I now
have a new replacement battery and I am happy. I am now
charging the replacement battery at the "Genius Bar"as I write
this blog post. Technology is pretty cool huh!

STYLECOACH

STYLECOACH started today. A lot of work and preparation went
into this seminar. Thankfully It was a success. The first guest was
tailor Shinichiro Edward Koba of E. The first theme was order
made shirts and cufflinks. featuring shirts were tailored of select
fine fabrics by Mr. Koba also known as "Edo" . Also featured were
cufflinks from the mens accesory brand "1115" , which has many
offerings for a present day and perhaps timeless style. The
Moderator was of this session was Roger Francis Clarke.

A quick one before heading home...

Stopped off at a bar/restaurant my friend runs in Mishuku
(Setagaya, Tokyo) called "Kong Tong". The Location of the place is
the same level as the highway 246, which makes for an interesting
hypnotic kind of view. Sometimes just watching the traffic go by
while sipping your favorite beverage can be quite relaxing.
Nice mood delicious drinks and nice atmosphere.

Sounds like an advertisement right?

Yes!
The guy who runs the place is a good friend and offers good
service so, why not. By the way there is also a very cool
looking tube amp that powers the music for the spot.

Am I in Hawaii...?

Naw, I am in Ebisu. Went to meet some People to discuss the
possibilities of business, when suddenly the music changed, the
lights dimmed, and there was a Hawaiian Dance show!
Surprise!!

The girls were nice and danced well so I didn't complain, BUT...
the show was long and we felt it improper to try to talk over the
show, so we had to wait until the show was over to finish our
conversation.

Yes, Tokyo life can be quite interesting...

Sound Memories

The start of a New Era

Yes, I have decided that I would enjoy my life more if I had a blog. Having a blog means that I don't have to feel bad about not sharing or forgetting to send photos or info about what I am doing.

Today I went to Yoyogi Park (Tokyo just does not have enough green spaces) to just chill and get close to the earth. doing this kind of thing usually puts me in touch with me and my path. I was inspired to make a call to Kentaro since I had not spoken to him in months. That call led to a conversation that nearly depleted my phone battery, and me go over to visit him at his place. The visit led to a strengthening of our relationship and an agreement to work on a project in the near future.
more on this as it develops...

As for me, I have made some changes and am Making it Happen!
(while enjoying life of course...)
